This is my first post of this season. This specific post you may want to come back to as I will be updating this a few times a week compared to doing a whole post about weekly. This is more a diary for ourselves for the future but can be helpful to others if looking for us.
Friday, May 13 After 22 hours of driving we are now in Canada. I have one more post titled By The Numbers for 2022. Stay tuned!
Wednesday, May 11 On the road back home by car. Time Out is secure in our marina. We will be have family time for 3 weeks before we return.
Thursday, May 5 We crossed the Gulf Stream today, super calm and little wind. It was amazing. It was a long day as we left at 7:30 am and anchored at 6:30 pm. We came through the St Lucie inlet.
A very small bird hitch hiked on board for about 30 minutes. It landed on Paul, seemed very tame
Wednesday, May 4 Tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day to cross to Florida. In ten days we have a wedding to attend and there is no way we will miss that. This morning a little rain in paradise here but we love rain.
Monday May 2 Another birthday for Paul, usually in the Bahamas but this year with friends, pizza and laughter on our top deck. Super windy here but by Thursday a perfect day to cross to West Palm Beach, Florida.
Friday April 29 We are at Bimini Blue Water marina for next while as we wait for the Gulf Stream to calm down. We have the air conditioning on inside the whole boat! It is glorious 😊.
Tuesday April 26 We pulled anchor and bought fuel in Nassau then went through harbour to West Bay. Finally boats are on the move. The winds have changed. Wednesday we head to the middle of the Banks, no land, nothing. We will anchor there on our way to Bimini. No internet!
Saturday, April 23 STILL HERE at Rose Island near Nassau. All boaters are just anchored or if one is a sailor and the wind is in the direction you are going, they are travelling. This has been a windy winter. Our Bahamian flag did not last the season, this is why we buy extra. Long (or longer) range says we may pull anchor on Tuesday and head to West Bay.
Wednesday, April 20 We took our dinghy into Nassau to buy produce. On our way we saw this cool ship.
Monday April 18 We left Exumas and now anchored near Nassau at Rose Island. We are awaiting weather to travel further but will be a few days.
Saturday, April 16 We pulled anchor at Staniel Cay and now we are at Norman's Cay. We are here for two nights then travel to Rose Island near Nassau. We will be anchored there for a few nights waiting for weather to continue. Today we encountered 41mph wind gusts just on our way to anchor. The stabilizers were working big time.
Thursday, April 14 We say goodbye tomorrow to our young guests. We are anchored at Big Majors Staniel Cay. We went out for lunch today and bought provisions. We start heading back to Florida in days now. Our winter time here is ending.
Tuesday April 11 We are enjoying our guests near Staniel Cay and today Pipe Creek Sandbar at low tide. A favourite with us and our guest May said YES, her favourite. We plan to go back tomorrow too. We snorkeled today at a hidden gem of a place.
Thursday April 7 Friends renting a cottage for 2 nights on Staniel Cay then we pick them up on Saturday morning for 6 nights. Fun in the sun. Super windy these days, no paddle boarding or much swimming. We made a mushroom Truffle pizza on our stone. So so so delicious!
Sunday, April 3 We enjoyed lunch out yesterday with friends. Today we went out to the big blue waters to deep drop fish. We were about an hour in when we believe a snapper was on but then a shark cut our line......to eat our snapper? Speculation on what happened. Tuna thawed out for dinner anyway.
Thursday, March 31 We are anchored near Staniel Cay waiting for this wind to slow. We are getting boat chores done. The anchorage here is pretty full so we will move to a private place in a couple of days after we go ashore for more provisions.
Tuesday, March 29 Farewell friends. Time Out will be quiet until our next couple arrive in a week or so. We love sharing the Exumas with everyone!
Sunday March 27 Our visit with our friends here on Time Out is coming to an end. Tuesday they fly out from Staniel Cay so we are anchored here now to enjoy the sandbars, Yacht Club and we need to buy produce at the shops today.
Wednesday March 23 We are enjoying Norman's Cay and now Shroud Cay. Lots of sun but windy.
Friday, March 18 Yippee, we picked up guests to host on Time Out for 12 nights. We are so excited to share these blue waters.
Sunday, March 13 We pulled anchor yesterday morning because the winds and waves changed. It was not comfortable sleeping. We were rocking and rolling. We are now at Big Major's Spot near Staniel Cay along with 50 other boats until the winds change. Cloudy and cool temps but we are in THE EXUMAS.
Thursday, March 10 We are back in the Exumas. I shopped in Nassau before we left. We have friends coming next week. We look forward to seeing them and our boating friends down here. Nassau groceries not too bad in price.
Saturday February 26 Change of plans. We will be in Nassau tomorrow to go home for our family. We fly back on Tuesday. We will be leaving Time Out in the Bahamas for the first time. We will get it organized and ready to leave. There will be no updates until our return.
Friday February 25 Blue waters and sunshine here does not make us immune to terrible news at home. I am travelling back to hug family. Paul will stay with the boat at anchorage here at Staniel Cay.
Wednesday February 23 We are still enjoying this anchorage, paddle boarding, swimming, polishing boat, dinghy rides around Compass Cay. At low tide Paul can touch bottom, that is how shallow it is where we are.
Yesterday was 2022-02-22 and a baby was supposedly born at the time of 22:02 in a room #2.
Saturday February 19 We left Big Major's after provisioning with produce and a lunch of Mahi and Conch. We went to one of our secret places but NOT A SECRET anymore. About 5 megayachts and six private boats there. Yesterday we found another one even better. The internet is not reliable where we are though.
Tuesday February 15 Wow... so windy, up to 33 mph here at the anchorage. Sleepless night on Sunday night as we were making sure no other boats were dragging. We are just doing inside stuff on Time Out. I have a new hobby!
Saturday February 12 WE ARE ANCHORED AT BIG MAJOR'S CAY, Staniel Cay. There were 33 boats here when we arrived but so many have arrived. There is weather coming tomorrow afternoon and all boats are getting into their anchorages. Norman's Cay was rocky so we ventured here today. From Rose Island to Norman's Cay...... rough! Stabilizers helped, thank goodness. Weather meteorologists can be wrong never get fired? Our boat is so salty we are hoping for rain tonight to help with the wash down tomorrow.
Thursday February 10 WE MADE IT TO THE EXUMAS. We are officially here. We are anchored at our normal anchorage here in Norman's Cay. Beautiful blue waters. The passage from Rose to here was one to remember. Thank goodness for our stabilizers! The waves were coming from two directions and the poor stabilizers had a job cut out for them. Sunday we go to Staniel Cay.
Tuesday February 8 We are anchored at Frazier Hog Cay near Chub Cay, this is a stop for us on our way to Rose Island. We will head right through Nassau tomorrow after buying fuel. We are getting closer to the Exumas. We anchored surrounded by blue waters last night, no land or over 40 miles. Lots of beautiful stars out.
Saturday February 5 Blue, blue blue waters of Bimini, we are here! We got up at 5am and pulled anchor, along with a flotilla of other boats. We are checked in and ready to cruise the Exumas. Right now we are visiting friends Sheldon and Cyndi on C-Shel. We are so happy to see friends along the way.
This is Sun Rise lol!Wednesday February 2 Yesterday we dinghied to No Name Harbour to buy produce and also to eat a light lunch. We needed some land to walk on. Today is making water and laundry. We are testing the water maker and a big sigh that it is working. The most beautiful sunsets here at our anchorage.
Weather forecast says we may cross on Saturday. Yippee!
Sunday January 30 Friday night and Saturday were met with high winds and gale warnings. We were tired from a sleepless night on Friday. Everyone in anchorage did not move though. We woke up to very cool temps and had to put the heat on! Florida this time of year is unpredictable.
January 28 We are now anchored in Key Biscayne waiting for the nice, calm weather so we can cross to Bimini. It will be awhile so we will just do boat chores.
January 26 We picked up our main man Zeyad and went out in the big blue waters and tested/calibrated the new compressor added on to our stabilizers, the 2-3 ft waves actually mean add them together, yikes. However, Gyro Gale Stabilizers worked perfectly. Smiles on all our faces.
January 25 Paul took me somewhere expensive! We went to buy fuel, 1000 lbs of it. We are are low in the water. So many dolphins greeted us on the Intracoastal Waterway. One was a showoff and swam upside down.
January 24 Dropped off our car, we leave dock tomorrow.
January 20, 2022 Our friends from Chicago came with us on our first big dinghy ride, a beautiful sunny day and went to Riverside Cafe for lunch. We fished but no luck.
Christmas We had a delicious Butterball Turkey, a small one. Hot this year compared to last year when it was almost freezing!
December 14 We travelled down to Stuart for our haul out. Time Out was taken out of the water for a paint job and a few other things, including the starboard shaft. The water cooling system for this shaft failed on our way to Stuart, it got overheated.
We got our new Zar Mini dinghy delivered here in Stuart. Excited!
November 23 We arrived to Time Out, easy drive.
November 21, 2021 We crossed the border to U.S. driving this time. No cars in front of us. This was at Ivy Lea Bridge, Ontario.
